WHY CEMETERY MARKERS NEED TO BE CLEANED

Over time, cemetery markers are exposed to the elements — rain, wind, sun, lichen, moss, and pollution. This natural buildup can cause stains, discoloration, and even surface damage. Regular cleaning helps preserve the beauty and integrity of your loved one's memorial for generations to come.

Cemetery Marker Cleaning Service does the cleaning for you with a safe, biodegradable solution specifically designed for cemetery markers — one that will not harm the marker.

OUR PROCESS

The safe standard for irreplaceable stone cemetery markers

Old markers are genuinely fragile, and improper cleaning causes permanent, irreversible damage. We follow the recognized preservation-safe approach every time.

  1. 1

    Assess the marker

We evaluate the stone type and condition. Fragile marble, limestone, and sandstone are handled with extra care. If a cemetery marker is deemed unsafe to clean, CMCS will not clean the marker & the customer's funds will be refunded.

  2. 2

    Gentle, approved method

CMCS follows the standard of the VA and National Park Service. The cleaning solution CMCS uses to clean cemetery markers is designed to remove lichen, moss build up, that causes stains & discoloration from years of dirt & grime. Our cleaning solution is safe for the environment & will not harm plants, grass, granite, marble or concrete.

  3. 3

    Never anything harsh

No bleach, no acids, and no wire brushes. CMCS uses a low psi washer & prevents etching or spalling the surface.

  4. 4

    Document & confirm results

We photograph the work and confirm completion, so you have a clear record of your loved one's restored memorial.

Yes — CMCS uses a safe biodegradable, biologically safe cleaning solution with soft bristle brushes. No wood, plastic or metal scrapers or scouring pads are used. CMCS follows the safe cleaning method recommended by the VA & National Park Service.

Do I need permission to have a marker cleaned?

As the customer schedules a professional cleaning by CMCS, an authorization / waiver is signed by the paying customer.

How long does a cleaning take to show results?

Our biological solution continues working with rain and sunlight after we leave, so many markers keep brightening for weeks after the initial cleaning.
