BEFOREWHY CEMETERY MARKERS NEED TO BE CLEANED
Over time, cemetery markers are exposed to the elements — rain, wind, sun, lichen, moss, and pollution. This natural buildup can cause stains, discoloration, and even surface damage. Regular cleaning helps preserve the beauty and integrity of your loved one's memorial for generations to come.
Cemetery Marker Cleaning Service does the cleaning for you with a safe, biodegradable solution specifically designed for cemetery markers — one that will not harm the marker.

OUR PROCESS
The safe standard for irreplaceable stone
Old markers are genuinely fragile, and improper cleaning causes permanent, irreversible damage. We follow the recognized preservation-safe approach every time.
- 1
Assess the marker
We evaluate the stone type and condition. Fragile marble, limestone, and sandstone are handled with extra care.
- 2
Gentle, approved method
We use D/2 Biological Solution with soft brushes and wood or plastic scrapers — the standard followed by the VA and National Park Service.
- 3
Never anything harsh
No bleach, no acids, no wire brushes, and no pressure washing that could etch or spall the surface.
- 4
Document & confirm
We photograph the work and confirm completion, so you have a clear record of your loved one's restored memorial.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Questions, answered
Is the cleaning safe for old or fragile markers?
Yes. We use D/2 Biological Solution with soft brushes and wood or plastic scrapers — the method recommended by the VA and National Park Service. We never use bleach, acids, wire brushes, or pressure washing, which can cause permanent damage.
Do I need permission to have a marker cleaned?
Often, yes. When you book, you confirm you have the right to authorize the work. Many cemeteries also have their own policies — some require written permission or restrict methods. We ask for authorization and recommend checking the cemetery's rules.
How long does a cleaning take to show results?
Our biological solution continues working with rain and sunlight after we leave, so many markers keep brightening for weeks after the initial cleaning.
How do I pay?
You can pay securely online with Apple Pay, Google Pay, a card, PayPal, or Venmo — or choose to pre-pay by cash or check before your service date.
What areas do you serve, and is there a travel fee?
We're based in Jackson, Michigan. Cleanings within 30 miles have no travel fee; beyond that we add $0.725 per mile over 30 miles. When you enter a marker's location while scheduling, we estimate the distance and show any travel fee before you pay.
